There is nothing as restricting as fear!   Advice like there’s nothing to be afraid of” and “feel the fear and poo! your pants anyway” , has been given to us all at some point in our lives.   Whether it’s swimming with goldfish, free falling off sofas or the classic being accidentally put into the washing machine on full spin, the Pallattwood stunt performers have the most dangerous jobs in Studio.

We chatted to PallattWood Studio stuntman Brett Icandothat for some insights into his risky yet highly entertaining job.  Brett Icandothat has spent most of his life working or dealing with danger. He is fearless, thrives on the adrenaline rush and spent most of his early years risk-taking.

“ I started practicing Judo when I was less than a day old” says Brett.  “ I used to watch all those true to life ‘Kung-fu’ and action movies on a Saturday afternoon and re-enacted them when I was put back into the toy box.  I think that’s where my desire to become a stunt performer was born.  My first real  life experience was getting dropped off an 8 story balcony on a family holiday in Spain. I have been dangled by my toes under a hot power shower, thrown out of a car and crashed through a bedroom window - none of which seemed the least bit cuckoo to me”.

It can be argued that Brett might have had one of the most impressive of all time experiences though.  In Crouching  Action Man and Hidden Cabbage Patch Doll 2000, he preformed in a scene where he and a fellow stuntman ran away from being put into a very large garden pond, while at the same time dodging a kid on a balance bike, a barking dog and bird-poo dropping from the sky. “That was like one of the CRAZIEST day’s I’ve ever had but absolutely riveting and incredibly rewarding”, Brett tells us.

Brett identifies as an eclectic all round performer.  He is highly capable of preforming any stunts that are asked of him.  He will sometimes show up on set without actually knowing what stunt he will be preforming but Brett being the action man, we know and love is always prepared to deal with new and what he truly thrives on ‘exciting experiences’.  However, like all stunt performers he has his limitations and stunts he won’t do, like walking on hot coals and burning building scenes.

PallattWood Studio do take every precaution to keep all of their actors safe, and injuries very fortunately are a rarity and exception to the rule.   But for the rare occasions an accident does happen, a roll of gaffer tape is kept stage left.
