Chris P Bacon 26yrs
Chris P Bacon, World champion ‘Here’s Ya Grub’ delivery driver days might be behind him, but that isn’t stopping him breaking new ground.
The former ‘Here’s Ya Grub’ delivery driver only learned to act shortly before the pandemic began, and has now developed a passion for acting and showing off.

German born Chris explains how he learned to love acting and how he looks after himself as an ex-elite ‘Here’s Ya Grub’ delivery driver……..

What was it like learning to Act ?

“It was like the best thing I’ve ever done. I really enjoyed it, and I didn’t think it was possible to learn in such a short space of time. It took me 7 days or even less and although it was slow at first, it really picked up”

“I found it very tiring I’m not going to lie, but once I got into the swing of it, it wasn’t so far away from delivery driving. In some senses the techniques are the same. I suppose its what you call transferable skills. In both positions you have to be idolised and incredibly thick skinned. I think being a delivery driver allowed me to pick it all up a lot quicker. Having to take and relay orders in addition to the delivery of them, has definitely helped me to process the scripts better”.

Were you previously very aware of not being able to act?

“I didn’t give it too much thought. I was never afraid of showing off. I could sort of act a tiny bit in the school pantomime for example. So, I just had to learn a little bit more really”

What do you find so appealing about acting in particular?

“I just love showing off but I’m still very much an amateur. I find it easier to act at the local community Center than at the Royal Shakespeare Company theatre. I used to think the stage was just a stage but in reality they are all massively different.

Do you find it good for your wellbeing, mentally and physically?

“Oh definitely. To be in the right mental state, you have to be in the right environment and for me that’s being on the stage as much as humanly possible, ideally morning, noon and night. I can understand the struggle people had in lockdown when you couldn’t really go out to the theatre to see and appreciate actors like myself ”

What are you most looking forward to in the post-pandemic world?

“Nothing really. I quite enjoy being in lockdown”
